The original Vergo story was written by Aylo and is considered a classic of the genre in the german speaking world. The character Vergo was one of my favourites when I was at that age and since I only found one (kind of bad) english translation of the story I thought I'd try my hand at it myself. Enjoy!

--------------

Hello. I will tell you what happened to me a few days ago. Why? Because I hope that you can help me. By the way, my name is Tom.

Last Saturday, my parents went out. I have a younger brother, but he went to bed at 9:30 PM. On a Saturday! But I digress. I was lounging on the couch and flipping through channels, half asleep. Suddenly, the TV started to flicker. "Ah shit", I complained. Just when I was about to get up the picture came back and i sat back down again, sighing. It was 10:45 and I was bored. Any normal person would have probably just gone to bed. But luckily I didn't.

Because when I looked at the TV again, I saw someone. Although at the time, I didn't think it was human. That might sound mean, but his "face" filled almost the whole screen and he was wearing a mask that looked white and solid. Except for the mouth, at the mouth the mask was fitted to the face as if it was part of the skin and he was grinning madly. He began to speak.

"Hey, where did you say we were broadcasting?", it asked the camera man. His voice was distorted, but there was something about him...something...fascinating.

"For now, this video will be broadcast in the UK and America.", responds the camera man. His voice was also distorted.

"And how much longer until we're on air?", asks the thing in front of the camera. Obviously they haven't noticed that they've been broadcasting vor about 30 seconds already. I had to laugh, then there was a click in the background. Apparently, the camera man had checked the connection because the next thing he says is:

"Oh, I think we've been broadcasting for 38 seconds already", he says.

The thing stares directly into the camera. "Oh really? How cute.", it spoke and began to giggle. I wondered what kind of show this was supposed to be. I started the EPG but it wouldn't load. I changed the channel a few times, but the show was on every channel. When you think about it, "show" is the wrong word. It was more like a Livestream.

The thing in front of the camera began to introduce itself:

"Hello, my name is Vergo." The camera zoomed out so that its whole body came into view. It wore a torn black suit, black gloves and black boots. Now it was clear that "it" was probably a "he". Overall he was dressed as if he was on his way to a job interview but had had a run-in with some violent thugs on the way.

He continued. "I'm very sorry if I've intrrupted anyone's favourite show, but I think you can get the episodes online." His tone was uplifting, I've never heard a person speak so joyfully.

"Before I continue, I want to give a warning to any small children that might be watching: Go to bed, it's late. You could also read a book or wait until this is over and turn the TV back on then, because the following will definitely not interest you." Vergo waited for about 10 seconds before he continued. I kept watching, thrilled to see what might come next.

"Alright, I hope all children have turned off now." And with that he moved to a chair. On the chair sat a man. He looked unkempt and disgusted me. I'm not sure why, but that's what I felt.

"So this friendly Mister here is James." He patted the man on the shoulder. By now I could see that the man was tied up and his mouth was taped shut.

"James is one of those people who like to hurt other people. He has raped 5 women and killed 4 of them. The only survivor is severely traumatized and being psychologically treated.", Vergo says, still in this distorted but joyful voice. "James was brought to court. But since there wasn't enough evidence against him, he was released." I was shocked. How could such a man be allowed to walk free?

Vergo ripped the tape from James' mouth.

"What do you want from me, you brat?", he shouted. That's when I noticed that Vergo was rather short compared to James. About what was normal for a 14-15-year-old. He definitely wasn't an adult.

Vergo walked off screen and when he returned, he had a kitchen knife.

"Hey. What are you doing? That isn't a toy!", the man shouted. But Vergo only lifted the man's sweatshirt so that his huge fat stomach came into view and stabbed him. James screamed, but Vergo didn't let go. He moved the man calmly, so that he could write. I've never seen anyone be this calm. When he was done, the writing on the stomach was visibile: FUCKER. James cried from the pain.

"Do you know what, James?", Vergo began, "People can be divided in to two categories: Those that talk and those that do." He paused, then he continued speaking. Now anger came into his voice and I somehow felt like laughing. How could I be thinking about laughing in a situation like this? "I'm sure that most of the audience felt like punching you in the face when I listed your crimes. But only I am doing things to you right now." Now he looked directly into the camera. He seemed to have come back to himself because he was grinning so hard that even the Joker would have been jealous.

"Well, dear viewers, now comes my favourite part." He walked off screen again and returned with a gas tank that was apparently filled with an anesthesic. I thanked all that was holy that he hadn't used that first. Such people should feel what their victims felt.

Vergo connected the gas tank and James fell asleep slowly.

"This gas will paralyze him but he will still feel pain." He laughed. "Even though he won't be able to enjoy that anymore soon."

Vergo took a knife and cut off the skin of the stomach. When he was done, I was fascinated. Everything looked so perfectly arranged and I couldn't look away.

"As beautiful as this is", I heard Vergo say, "I will unfortunately have to remve the organs." And that's what he did. It looked as if he was removing parts of a puzzle. When he reached the liver, he said: "The liver detoxes the body and it is very healthy." With these words he laid it on the table, while the other organs littered the floor. When Vergo reached the heart he said:

"The heart pumps about 5 litres of blood through the body. You have to be careful when removing it or it'll make a huge mess." I had to laugh again and at the same time I was stunned that I could find something like this funny.

Vergo stood and moved on to the head. "The brain is a delicacy. But it tastes best when you fry it inside the head." With these words he grabbed the back of James' head and ripped it off. Then he cut away the bit of meat that blocked the way to the brain. When he was done he took the head, the liver and the heart and walked off screen. The camera swung around and he was now standing in a kitchen. He had put the heart in the oven, the liver in a pot and the head in a pan. "Thank you for watching. Depending on the audience response I will either come back or you'll never see me again. I hope you enjoyed the show and maybe we'll see each other again."

With these words the screen went black. I did not tell my parents about this Vergo. When I came to school on Monday pretty much everyone was talking about him and I wondered if there would soon be a new episode of Vergo's "cooking show".

And now we're back in the present. Maybe you can help me raise awareness about Vergo. I have spent the last 3 hours posting questions, information and anything else about Vergo. I want him to come back. Why? Because I hope that I can try one of his recipes soon.
